PHOTOS: Fire injures Rancho Cordova couple, kills 2 dogs

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA. - A Rancho Cordova couple sustained moderate to serious injuries when their home was destroyed by a fire Saturday around 1:30 a.m.

Sacramento Metro Fire Assistant Chief Dale Turner said both of the residents at 2525 Queenwood Dr., who are in their 60s, were able to escape the house.

"The female was able to self-extricate out of the house and the male was assisted by a neighbor and a law enforcement officer," Turner said.

Both victims were transported to UC Davis Medical Center to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The couple's two dogs were later found dead.

Turner said one firefighter was also injured when debris got into his eye. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Firefighters extinguish Rancho Cordova RV fire

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA - Sacramento Metro firefighters extinguished a RV fire at 10665 Chardonay Saturday around 5:53 a.m.

When crews arrived on scene, the RV was fully engulfed in flames, plus nearby bushes were also on fire, said Assist. Chief Scott Cockrum.

Investigators said the fire was accidental and most likely related to poor vehicle maintenance.

Cockrum said no injuries were reported.

Public's help sought to identify suspect

The Rancho Cordova Police Department is searching for the suspect in these pictures. He is wanted for committing a residential burglary on April 7, 2011.

In these photographs, captured on a surveillance camera, the suspect is using a credit card stolen from the victim. The suspect was wearing designer jeans, a blue jacket with the number ‘9’ on back and white stripes down each arm, a black and green T-shirt and a tan cap.

The suspect is believed to be between 16 and 21 years of age, approximately 6’ to 6’2" tall, and about 160 pounds. He may be of Eastern European or Hispanic descent.

National Study Showing Increase in Cosmetic Surgery for Men Reflected in Sacramento Patients

Statistics just released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons show that cosmetic plastic surgery procedures in men increased in 2010 compared to 2009.

Individual male surgical procedures that showed significant increase included:

Facelifts for men rose 14 percent in 2010, while male liposuction increased 7 percent.

In total, men underwent more than 1.1 million cosmetic procedures in 2010, both minimally invasive and surgical. Also, according to the ASPS, the majority of men’s top 10 fastest growing procedures are surgical, bucking the previous trend in the growth of minimally invasive treatments.
