Mural festival coming to Sacramento

The Sacramento Mural Fest (SMF) is a week-long event featuring artists from Sacramento and around the world.  From August 20 – 28, 2016 more than a dozen murals will be painted throughout the city to activate areas in Downtown and Midtown Sacramento. Tours, lectures, and conversations about public art, design and murals will take place throughout the week.

SMF is presented by Friends of the Arts Commission (Friends), a non-profit organization established in 1977 to support the work of the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission. Proceeds from the festival will benefit arts education.

Co-Founders LeBasse Projects, an art consultancy that specializes in developing public art programming, and David Sobon, owner of David Sobon and Associates and a longtime local arts supporter, will be curating and supporting the production of this annual event.

“By creating new spaces for our already thriving art scene, the Sacramento Mural Festival will transform the landscape of our city," begins co-founder David Sobon. “We are thrilled that proceeds from the Festival will benefit arts education."
