Collaborative With Army Of Angels Helps To Eliminate Child Abuse

“This is really a match made in heaven “says Max Woodford of Citrus Heights, board member for the town’s Kiwanis Club and also advisor for their youth group (known as Key Club).”It is absolutely amazing to see Kiwanis chapters all over the world join forces with Army Of Angels groups globally in helping to produce the National Child Abuse Prevention Month campaign, including Kross Kountry-4-Kids A Journey-4-Justice (the two week motorcycle ride that travels from Sacramento to Washington DC and back carrying with them a nine panel quilt tribute to young crime victims and their family members).

Each Kiwanis chapter involved in the massive world wide effort has accepted their own area to contribute, while also working collectively to make certain the effort reaches as many individuals, groups, organizations and businesses possible. Member like Allan Whithers of Kiwanis Rancho Cordova are heading up major efforts for the campaign’s opening ceremonies in Sacramento March 29th, 30th and 31st at Sunrise Event Center, Whithers chapter is running the Heroes With Heart Gala bar and also providing the dinner to more than 500 guests. Others like Bill Hooper who is President of the board for the Kiwanis Family House and also a board member for the organizations Citrus Heights chapter has taken on getting all the wine and champagne for the gala tables and contributing valuable items to the gatherings silent auction…helping to raise resources for the important cause.

In addition to an abundance of Kiwanis chapters working with Army Of Angels to make the massive effort as impactful as possible their teen youth groups-Key Club are right by their side, volunteering in droves to make blue ribbons, set up and break down events, create banners as well as signs and even mentor grade school children and their peers, encouraging their participation in the National Child Abuse Prevention Month poster and essay contests. High school students like Vitaliy Demchik (Mesa Verde High School)and Austen Alsey (Bella Vista High School)boast the benefits of being empowered to be such a significant part of the program.

April will be 30 years since the month was declared “Child Abuse Prevention Month”a time set aside to focus on interventions which help to better protect young people.Kiwanians like Whithers,Hooper and Woodford say they see their strategic alliance with Army Of Angels as a way to take societie’s ability to create more caring communities to the next level. Army Of Angels is an international coalition of child advocates dedicated to eliminating crimes against children.
