Law Enforcement Chaplaincy Memorial Run -A Spirtitual Moment Indeed!

The 18th Annual Sacramento Law Enforcement (LEC-S) Memorial Run:  “Raising funds for the Sacramento Law Enforcement Chaplaincy, serving officers, their families and victims of crime” was held at the Memorial site July 30, 2011.  The Sacramento Law Enforcement Memorial Run has become the primary fundraising event to enable LEC-S to serve so many in our community.  Portions of proceeds are pledged to support the Police and Sheriff Memorial Foundation, as well as other charities serving law enforcement, family and citizens.

At the Memorial Site, an hour program in honor of all officers serving Sacramento County was held as well as a dedication remembering those officers who have fallen during the past year by serving us all so bravely.  A bagpiper’s notes of Amazing Grace echoed in a quiet pose paying homage to all our fallen officers bringing stillness and solemn reflection from all who stood facing the Color Guard.  Each fallen office

An Experience Designed to Inspire Sacramento Youth Beyond the Horizon

An Experience Designed to Inspire Sacramento Youth Beyond the Horizon

On Sunday, August 7th, over 100 young people from the Sacramento region will be given an opportunity that many could only dream of. As part of a joint effort, the California Capital Airshow, Rancho Cordova Police Activities League, Sacramento Jet Center, Aerospace Museum of California, Sacramento County Airport System, SAFE Credit Union, Jelly Belly and several other caring community partners will introduce Sacramento youth to an eye-opening day of endless opportunity, inspiration and life-changing possibilities that await them.  The event has been aptly named, Positive Altitude.

Statistics show that exposure to such unique and interactive experiences expand a young person’s imagination and broadens their outlook on life, as well as their view of the world. ‘Positive Altitude’ isn’t just about aviation or the thrill of flying; this event is so much more. It is about the opportunities that lie ahead if these young people are given the tools to succeed.

Autism Awareness - July 25, 2011

Twelve-year-old Michael "Mikey" Coyne from Rancho Cordova is passionate about raising money and generating awareness for Autism research.

At the age of 9, Mikey created "Strikeouts for Autism", a program that raises awareness and funds for Autism research. Through this program, Mikey encourages family, friends and corporate and community sponsors to make pledges based on how many strikeouts young pitchers across Northern California can make during their season. All of the money raised goes to Autism Speaks, the nation's largest Autism research and advocacy organization. Mikey created this amazing program in honor of his younger brother, Brendan, who has Autism.

He talks with Jodie about his program and how you can help this worthy cause.
