Folsom hospital nurse accused of sexually abusing patient | Crime
SACRAMENTO, CA - A nurse who was employed by a Folsom hospital is set to appear in court next week on charges he fondled a disabled, incapacitated patient.
The criminal complaint filed by the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office alleges Daniel Ratner touched the victim's vagina and breast for the purpose of sexual gratification on or about Oct. 19, 2012.
The victim was a patient at Mercy Hospital of Folsom.
Ratner also faces four counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of videotaping a person in a state of undress without their knowledge. The alleged offenses were committed between on or about Aug. 1, 2012 and Nov. 15, 2012.
Hospital president Michael Ricks released the following statement in response to the allegations:
Our top priority is to provide excellent care and to maintain the safety and privacy of our patients. We take this matter very seriously and are continuing to cooperate with the local authorities on their investigation. This person is no longer employed at the hospital. Our employees provide exceptional care to our patients and we continually emphasize the importance of patient privacy in our daily work.
Ratner had been employed at Mercy Hospital since April 2010. He was arrested more than a month ago.
