Discover.  In addition to its fascinating Gold Rush past, the Sacramento area is rich with an amazing array of state-of-the-art museums and historic sites that offer visitors the chance to explore California’s fine art, history, science, and wildlife treasures all year long.  In December, many of the nearly 30 members of Sacramento Association of Museums (SAM) are featuring a number of holiday-related events and activities, a sampling of which includes the following:

In addition to its fascinating Gold Rush past, the Sacramento area is rich with an amazing array of state-of-the-art museums and historic sites that offer visitors the chance to explore California’s fine art, history, science, and wildlife treasures all year long.  In October, many of the 30 members of Sacramento Association of Museums (SAM) are offering fun Halloween and harvest-related events and activities sure to get guests in a festive spirit, including:

“Pumpkin Science” at the Discovery Museum Science & Space Center -- October 3 & 4
It’s the season for Jack-o-lanterns! Visit the Discovery Museum Science & Space Center to enjoy family-friendly pumpkin stations to learn a bit about this squash. Plus, kids 12 and younger craft a paper pumpkin to take home as fall décor. For more, visit www.thediscovery.org

California Dream Tennis Team Opening Night Monday!

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (DATE) – Sacramento’s California Dream professional tennis team is proud to announce that single and general admission tickets are now on sale for its inaugural season presented by Sunrise Marketplace. The California Dream will play seven home matches at its 2,400-seat venue at North end of Sunrise Mall in the Sunrise MarketPlace in Citrus Heights. Sunrise Market Place is the presenting sponsor for the 2015 California Dream. Single tickets are now available along with season tickets with various amenities at three levels: The Owner’s Club, Box Seating and Grandstands. Ticket and sponsor information is available at www.californiadreamtennis.com/tickets. The California Dream features high-quality professional tennis with a fan-friendly atmosphere that is sure to entertain fans of all ages, from the die-hard tennis fans to families and groups new to professional tennis.

Sacramento Museums to Showcase Variety & Diversity  With Interactive Booth at the State Fair

Back by popular demand, the Sacramento Association of Museums (SAM) will offer a fun and interactive booth at the California State Fair (July 10-26, 2015) in an effort to showcase the variety and diversity of offerings available in our region.   State Fair guests are invited to imagine, explore and discover more about local museums and destinations at the visually-exciting Sacramento Museums booth that will be located in Building B (northeast corner).

In addition to providing helpful information about the nearly 30 SAM member museums, the Sacramento Museums booth will include a number of hands-on activities every day that include the following:

Advance ticket sales at Walgreens, Bel-Air, Food Bank, CSD Office and Shingle Springs Cameron Park Chamber.

$3 in advance, $5 at gate (cash only), children 6 and under are FREE.

This is a ticketed event. No ice chests larger than a six-can cooler.

No BBQs, glass bottles, alcohol or fireworks.

Parking available at the Airpark. Enter off Oxford and Fairway.

Rules will be strictly enforced. Event organizers reserve the right to refuse entry.
