Longtime Rancho Cordova roller rink closing

King’s Skate Country at 2900 Bradshaw Road in Rancho Cordova will hold its last day of skating Feb 26.

The rink has been in operation for almost 40 years.

Co-owner Dan King says the tough business climate and his age prompted the decision.

The closure means most of the rink's 25 employees, most of who work part-time, will be out of a job.

Fire damages shuttered Rancho Cordova motel

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA - The former 1st Value Inn motel at Folsom Boulevard and Mather Field Road in Rancho Cordova was damaged by flames Monday night.

A fire erupted a little after ten o'clock, burning on the second floor of the building.

Sacramento Metro firefighters say in spite of private security and a police presence, the homeless sometimes use the rooms as a refuge.

Investigators are searching for a cause.

The city of Rancho Cordova eventually plans to level the structure and encourage development on the large lot.
