Public tips lead to arrest in Rancho Cordova sexual assault
News

SACRAMENTO, CA - The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department is thanking the public for helping in the identification and arrest of a sexual assault suspect.

Hector Correa, 21, was arrested Saturday on charges related to the Jan. 10 sexual assault of a 50-year-old woman on Vehicle Drive in Rancho Cordova.

An investigation into the assault revealed the suspect entered the victim's home through a window. When the victim awoke, he assaulted her and left through the front door, said Sacramento County sheriff's Deputy Jason Ramos.

Detectives released a composite sketch soon after the attack and say tips from the public helped lead them to the suspect.

Correa was booked into the Sacramento County Jail on several felony charges related to the incident.
