Sacramento sheriff: Suspect nabbed in rash of armed robberies
Crime

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA - A day after releasing store surveillance photos of a suspected robber, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department says an arrest has been made in the series of armed robberies.

Deputy Jason Ramos said the Sacramento Violent Crimes Task Force took Marcello Pinkney, 43, into custody in connection with four of the crimes.

The robber's targets have been gas stations and convenience stores, usually in the early evening. In each case, Ramos said the robber picked up merchandise, brought it to the store counter and then drew a black semi-automatic handgun on the clerk or assaulted the clerk when the register was opened. The robber demanded cash and then left.

Ramos said Pinkney was suspected of robbing a 7-11 store near Watt Avenue and Elkhorn Boulevard on Dec. 12; a Chevron gas station on the 2300 block of Sunrise Boulevard on Dec. 14; a Valero gas station on the 10200 block of Folsom Boulevard also on Dec. 14; and a Circle K store near Walerga Road and Elkhorn Boulevard on Dec. 18.
